The death of a 15-year-old youngster, Rene Graham, devastated the local community and brought a premature end to the annual Park Lime in locally named Teletubbies Park with a crowd of over a thousand persons liming with friends mainly from the surrounding areas. Many stalls were unable to remove themselves from the area, as it soon became a crime scene.
In its Press release, it said, “It is with a heavy heart that the CMA Management Team and members of the Caribbean Music Association (CMA) express their deepest condolences to the family and friends of 15-year-old Rene Graham, who was tragically shot at yesterday’s Park Lime at Emslie Horniman’s Pleasance Park, London W10 on Sunday, 21st July 2024
Our thoughts and deepest sympathies also go out to the families and all those affected by this unprecedented incident since the inception of the annual family event 20 years ago. The safety and well-being of our attendees, staff, and partners have always been our top priority from the outset of this family event, which has never had any incidents. We are devastated by the incident that transpired. The St John Ambulance team, who we had in attendance at the event, were the first medical responders on the scene and provided medical assistance to Rene Graham, followed by the London Ambulance Service. We have nothing but praise for all their efforts in trying to save his young life.
We want to thank St John Ambulance, the London Ambulance Service, the Police, the Security team, support volunteers, and the community for their swift actions and unwavering support during this challenging time. The spirit of unity and compassion shown by everyone in response to this horrifying incident has strengthened us all. We shall work diligently and co-operatively with the local Police, Local Authority, and other agencies to understand the full details of the incident and what we can learn from this tragedy. We ask for patience and understanding as we navigate this complex and traumatic period.
Thank you for your continued support and understanding.”
