Bishop of Croydon

Although Britain ended the slave trade in 1807, slavery continued across the Empire for another quarter-century. Abolition is often praised, but formerly enslaved people were often pushed into low-paid work or unpaid “apprenticeships”.

He is now mainly based at Croydon Minster and works closely with the Revd Andrew Bishop. Together, they serve the parish, and Michael provides pastoral and liturgical ministry to the John Whitgift Foundation, a charity that has supported Croydon in care and education since 1596.
