Barbadian Tharel Thompson is in critical condition at the John Radcliffe Hospital Oxford after being stabbed at the Walkabout Sports Bar in Wiston Terrace Reading, Berkshire. The youngster, who is on holiday from Barbados, was out with family and friends.
The incident happened during an altercation just after 2 am on 11th February, where Thompson was found injured and taken to hospital, where presently he is in an Intensive Care Unit. He came to the UK on holiday to spend time with his family after an accident at work. Tharel first came to the age at the age of 5, where he was then accompanied by his mum.
Krisma Anthony, 23, of Woolwich, London, was charged with one count of attempted murder and one count of possession of a knife blade/sharply pointed article in a public place. A second man, aged twenty-five, also from London, was also arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, and he remains in police custody.

Ms Thompson said they had been left with a £11,000 hospital bill. In a GoFundMe post, she wrote: “So far, his medical bill stands at £11,000 and is ongoing. I have flown over from Barbados and am incurring increasing hotel costs daily.
If you are not a UK resident, you can only receive emergency care free of charge in NHS A&E (accident and emergency) departments.
“Any help would be so much appreciated, and this is my last resort.”
In the UK, the tragedy has impacted the Caribbean community and has been the topic on social media, including WhatsApp and Facebook.
Barbadian groups under the aegis of the National Council of Barbadian Associations have reacted to the call, while diaspora attache Betty Lewis has been in contact with the group and Pastor Wesley from New Testament Church of God (NTCG) Oxford to secure accommodation in Oxford, near the hospital. Presently, the appeal for monies has now reached over seventeen thousand pounds, remarkable in such a short space of time. Further collections are being made across various events.
