Dr Don Burgess our Presenter
Before advancing to the role of senior medic, Dr Burgess was raised in Wilson Hill, St. John, alongside his brother and two sisters during an enriching period. His early years included attending Mount Tabor Primary School, attending church services on Sundays, and assisting with family responsibilities, such as animal care and maintaining the kitchen garden. Encouraged by his mother, Inez, who fostered ambition by assuring her children they could achieve any goal, Burgess attended Harrison College and subsequently earned a medical degree from the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine.
Burgess’s willingness to pursue diverse opportunities, along with limited employment prospects in Barbados upon graduation, led him to relocate to Jamaica to work as a surgeon. He describes himself as open to new experiences and environments, which later motivated him to extend his training in breast reconstruction in England.
